Mayor Ronnie Evangelista announces clearing ops, calls for clothes donation, assistance after flooding in Montalban

Rodriguez (Montalban) Mayor Ronnie Evangelista said the municipal government has started clearing operations in the town, prioritizing main roads, after it experienced massive flooding during the past few days.

In a Facebook video, Evangelista said classes remain suspended today because many schools are used as evacuation centers.

But the municipal hall remains open.

He called for donations of clothing for the residents who had to quickly evacuate their homes and had not been able to bring with them any items.

Donors may drop off the clothes at the designated area for organized distribution.

He also said relief goods are coming.

He directed all barangay health centers to provide doxycycline to those who waded through floodwaters.

Rodriguez suffered a lot of infrastructure damage, and the mayor said he would report these to the concerned agencies.

Evangelista said the the local government would also welcome assistance from civil society organizations for the clearing operations.

Residents who were not affected by floods could help out as well, he said.

“All hands on deck tayo para sa mabilis na pagbangon ng Montalban. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng patuloy na tumutulong at sumusuporta,” he said.
