Alfonso Mayor Randy Salamat said he would not give negative campaigning the time of day.
In a Facebook post, Salamat said he has never responded to negative campaigning in his 10 years in public service and will continue to ignore it during his remaining two years as local chief executive.
He said no good will come from paying attention to this tactic.
He is better off spending this time and energy on projects that will benefit the people of Alfonso, he said.
He noted that he is set to lead the groundbreaking for the Juanang Alfonseña office and livelihood training center and Sinaliw Day Care Center.
More projects are coming, he added.
