Quezon Gov. Helen Tan led the inauguration of the province’s very first Human Milk Bank, located at the Quezon Provincial Hospital Network–Quezon Medical Center (QPHN-QMC).
The milk bank will support Quezon’s initiatives to support breastfeeding and meet the needs of infants whose mothers cannot produce sufficient milk.
The facility is the country’s 43rd milk bank and the fourth in Calabarzon.
Tan thanked the province’s partners for helping make this project possible.
She also called on local governments in the province and other sectors to support milk donation so that it could provide more breastmilk to those who need it.
Aside from inaugurating the facility, Quezon officials also recognized the Top 10 Human Milk Donors for their contributions in helping ensure proper nutrition for infants.
The officials also turned over new medical equipment to QPHN-QMC, including a ventilator, infant warmer, and infant incubator.
These will be for the Neonatal Emergency Care Unit that is set to open.
